Types of shock absorber: –The shock absorber are mechanical devices that serve to absorb the energy of shocks and sudden shocks of machines and structures.
Shock absorber components
Shock absorbers share the same main components but differ in design and function. Some of the dampers:
Valves, couplings, valve springs, pistons.
1. Mounting the shock absorber
Shock absorber mounts are used to act on the car’s body and suspension. It can be top mount or bottom mount.
2. Buffer brush
Shock absorber brushes are usually located on the bracket. The absorbent brush is made of rubber or urethane. The dampening brush absorbs vibrations and separates metal parts, preventing noise and wear.
3. Coil spring damper
Coil springs serve as part of the damper assembly, also known as a coil damper.
4. Shock absorber piston and piston rod
The piston rod of the shock absorber contains a valve or orifice. The piston rod guides the piston in the shock absorber cylinder.
5. Damping cylinder
The shock absorber cylinder is a tube that forms the body of the shock absorber. It mainly contains compressed oil and forms a tube inside the movable piston of the shock absorber.
Telescopic shock absorber design
The top pawl is attached to the axle and the bottom pawl is attached to the chassis frame. A two-way valve is attached to the stem and another two-way valve is attached to the lower edge of the cylinder.
The work process
In the event of a vehicle collision, the lower peephole opens. Therefore, the liquid from the lower valve flows upwards, but the volume of the space above the valve is less than the volume of the stem, and the liquid presses against the other valve. Open hydraulic valve pressure provides the damping force. Therefore, when the lower flange moves downwards, liquid flows from the top to the bottom through the valve and vice versa.
The shock should be filled with shock fluid at the frequency recommended by the manufacturer. When the condition calls for it. The last telescopic shock absorbers can no longer be repaired. If there is not adequate resistance to leakage, shock or pull, it must be replaced.
Types of shock absorbers
Some important types of shock absorbers are:
1. Hydraulic type
2. Double action
3. Single Action
4. Type of friction
5. Lever type
6. Telescopic
1. Hydraulic damper
They are mainly used in passenger cars. They are highly resistant to spring action, forcing fluid through check valves and small orifices. They work according to the following principle of converting kinetic energy into thermal (thermal) energy. Fluid in the shock absorber flows through the exhaust system and valve system each time force is applied to create hydraulic resistance.
2. Double-acting damper
Double-acting shock absorbers provide compression and rebound resistance. They were commonly used in modern vehicles. You can use a very flexible spring.
3. Single-acting damper
They only create resistance during the rebound work phase.
4. Friction type damper
Friction dampers are virtually obsolete (old fashioned) due to unpredictable damping characteristics.
5. Lever type damper
The lever type refers to the indirect type. They are configured with ones that are bolted to the chassis with levers and links. As the shaft moves up and down, the double piston pushes oil through the valve. It is used in the suspension system of vehicles that use hydraulic fluid and its resistance increases with speed. This improves damping performance when the suspension is long.
6. Telescopic shock absorber
The telescopic type is the straight type. It is mainly installed between the axle and the frame. They can be compressed or expanded. They are divided into two tubes and two tubes.
